This month’s Educause Review has a great article called The Organization of the Organization: CIOs’ Views on the Role of Central IT. The article explores the role and challenges of the central IT organization in an era when individual departments increasingly have their own IT staff and technology resources.

Although the article focuses on academic environments, this power struggle (between central IT staff and departmental IT staff) rages just as fiercely in corporate IT environments.
